Good things for your melon and the world

Hey I discovered this rad website http://www.freerice.com/. It asks you multiple choice vocabulary questions and for every one you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice. It doesn't sound like much, but after playing for 15 minutes or so, I already had 600 grains. DO IT!

And if you are feeling epecially proactive check out http://www.one.org/ which is trying to put an end to world poverty. Awesome!

Or if you are interested about social justice from a progressive Christian perspective, check out http://www.sojourners.com/ .

Does anyone else have any website suggestions? Related to these topics or otherwise?

Life is short so make it count! Rock on.

Good websites! So I was involved in a worship service last night to help support the Millennium Development Goals and raise money to end extreme poverty...and with a live band, used the music of U2 to guide our Eucharist (hence, "U2charist"). The $$ went to the African Medical and Research Foundation (http://www.amref.org/)

And guess what....

Travel guru Rick Steves was there to give the sermon. He's a Lutheran, and an excellent speaker. He really is passionate about ending global poverty.

I got to meet him! whohoo!

oh, and here's a link about the UN Millennium Development Goals:

http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/

and the Wikipedia article about U2charists

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U2charist

We had a live band, stations where people could explore the MDG during the service, projection screens, and an artist painting live during the worship.
